Hot Dog

A ska-swing romp, tailored especially for  Lindy Hoppers everywhere! Complete with a catchy hook, as well as shout cues for the dancers.

In our quest to create and capture some of the energy of Lord Sledge's experience with the Ska Band The Toasters, we constructed this catchy ska-esque tune that has definitely become our most requested one, especially for "jam circles".   This genesis of this title has a story behind it. When on the road in Germany with Illinois Jacquet, the bus stopped at one particular corner, revealing an uncommon, but  familiar sight to most native New Yorkers: a Hot Dog stand. The culinarily homesick Jacquet, then randomly exclaimed to Lord Sledge: "Look Sledge, it's a Hot Dog!!!" This exclamation then prompted the ever-enterprising Sledge to immediately dart out of the bus, to make a few purchases before the light turned green.  Queen Esther emulates the voice of Mr. Jacquet.
