LETTING GO  NewYalloppin City

music by Frank Palette, lyrics by Shannon Shor, as performed by the Yalloppin Hounds, featuring Vickie Natale

I guess that freeing you Is the best thing to do But more than anything The hardest thing I know Is letting go My life is constant flight Clutching close clinging tight I laugh until I cry I swing from high to low Not letting go. I'm glad that you can't see How much I'd really love To stay , So much to say Yet I know I must walk away Bad news is hard to write Bitter tears, Lonely night, But it's goodbye my friend This pain must end and so I'm letting go. You never would be true although you knew How much I cared And still you dared To gamble with the love we shared. I  leave without regret Grateful now to forget I'll lose these blues today The one sure way I know , Just by letting go.

Ahhhh....the traditional singular non- G-Clef tune! I was going to keep this album all-originals, but when I heard this song on vocalist Gillian Palette's CD, as composed by her dad, saxophonist Frank Palette and renowned lyricist Shannon Shor, I actually hired Gill into the band! She worked with us for awhile, and still remains one of my favorite singers of my music. I hope to do some things with her again in the future. Meanwhile, here is my take on Frank Palette's beautiful ballad. The song describes the importance of freeing the one we love, no matter how difficult it may be. It's Vickie Natale’s world on this one. Solos by me, and Herman X.
