SWING FREE RIDER NewYalloppin City
music and lyrics by Joey "G-Clef" Cavaseno as performed by The Yalloppin Hounds featuring Joey "G-Clef" Cavaseno, Vickie Natale, Peter Hartmann, and Lord Sledge.
Swing free rider Louisiana's gone.... Swing free rider Louisiana's gone... So pay your cover charge And leave your water bottle at the door.
Some funky blues, straight up, with our utility vocal choir. The song is dedicated to the old swing haunt the Louisiana Community Bar and Grill. The birthplace of the New York City Swing Revival, the club used to have no cover charge, and people could just walk in and throw their personal belongings anywhere they'd choose. To date, many 'swing dancers' still smuggle water bottles into clubs, try to avert cover charges, and cram as many personal articles into a knapsack as they can to save money at the coat check. This song is dedicated to these people who desire the "free ride" wherever possible.
