words and music by Joey "G-Clef" Cavaseno, featuring Lord Sledge and G-Clef Ghetto Swing Extreme
rhyme: ex girlfriend, whattup boo, and how ya doing? It's been about three pieces and change since we was through and there's a couple of things on my mind I meant to tell you but never did... when I slid I left my shit up in your crib. Back then I was hurt but now heartbreaks is over-- how's my stereo sound and have you finally found Jehova? Ya heard the Hounds was blowin' but your values was shot, now go sell some pot, or better yet get got.
vocal: Well you seem like your from heaven baby... see...but we know you ain't shit.... All them guys out there you drive 'em crazy... But we know you aint shit..... See when I gave it to ya pure....you played me.... I should have left ya ass before.....you slayed me.... So just keep on steppin' past me baby... cuz to me you still aint shit.....
A medium up-tempo swing tune featuring Lord Sledge in his now-famous Louis Armstrong imitation that swing impresario Lo-Fi Lee has called "beyond parody." The intro features a short rhyme by G-Clef, introducing yet another aspect of our "ghetto swing" style, rapping over swing beats... The subject matter is a ghetto approach to lost love this time, as the performer tells the subject where she can go....
with my organ group, I used to perform this song up in Harlem, at Showman's Cafe regularly, as an instrumental based on the chord changes to "It Don't Mean a Thing" by Duke Ellington. Back then it was vaguely dedicated to certain of our musical peers who played jazz, but avoided the "swing" element in it, so we just told them they weren't sh**! Later, for the Hounds, the song became focused on the plight of someone who 'kept it real' but still got kicked to the curb, and this is revenge time for the kicked!
